Used Yard Trucks
Penske yard trucks – also known as spotters, terminal tractors, Ottawas, switchers, hostlers, yard jockeys, yard dogs, yard tractors, yard goats, utility tractor rigs (UTRs), stevedoring tractors, port tractors or mule – can move semi-trailers in freight yards more easily and faster than a typical tractor.
Features
- Can accommodate a hydraulic lifting fifth wheel so the operator can lower trailers and disengage the fifth wheel without getting out of the cab or cranking the landing gear
- Regulated according to engine installed (on- or off-road) and usage
On-/Off-Road Regulations
- Off-road units are restricted to a maximum 25 MPH speed.
- Speed requirements over 25 MPH require DOT/EPA automotive certified engines.
- On-road speed over 33 MPH requires FMVSS 121 and ABS brake systems.
